General:
Perennial herb from a stout rhizome; mat-forming; stems decumbent to ascending, several, branched above, 10-20 cm tall/long, glabrous.
Leaves:
Stem leaves alternate, smooth, evergreen, 6-12 mm long, nearly round in cross section, linear-oblong to ellipsoid, succulent, unstalked, usually broadest above the midlength and tapered to the base, usually somewhat flattened.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of terminal, umbrella-shaped clusters; petals white, obtuse, about equal to the stamens.
Fruits:
Follicles, spreading.

Habitat / Range

Dry gravelly areas in the lowland zone; rare garden escape in SW BC; introduced from Eurasia.
